IN THE TRADITION: A Showcase is Part 2 of The Poetry & Folklore of Sterling A. Brown, an examination and celebration of one of the 20th century's leading writers who helped define and shape the Black aesthetic tradition. A native Washingtonian, Brown was the District of Columbia's first Poet Laureate.
On Oct. 11, Kenneth Carroll, the 2017 DC Youth Poet Laureate and the Sterling A. Brown Artist In Residence for Esther Productions will be joined by Alexa Patrick and seven talented emerging poets who participated in a two-day writing intensive that used the works of Sterling A. Brown to inspire new poetry. THIS PROMISES TO BE AN EXCITING POETIC EXPERIENCE. DON'T MISS IT.
