National Reconciliation Week

National Reconciliation Week: For Self & Family (see Zoom link below)

Even before COVID-19 slammed us, we had issues with family and friends that needed resolution, requiring reconciliation after long simmering tensions or after long absences. The pandemic may have made us more aware of how we need to get right with ourselves and others we love, especially our family.

National Reconciliation Week

About the event

FAMILY: The Power Ingredient for Personal and Community Development. We may have been social distancing for the past few months, but one thing that the health emergency has made clear, family is indispensable. It’s time to power up this historic and essential institution if we want to protect our overall health, our personal and professional development while strengthening our communities and institutions. NATIONAL RECONCILIATION WEEK: For Self & Family guides participants through the process of reconnecting with themselves--their personal strength and creative vision--while also reconnecting or reconciling with family to enhance that institution and ensure health and holistic individual, community and societal development.

Esther Productions Inc. and Young Parents Elevation Network have joined forces to create NATIONAL RECONCILIATION WEEK: FOR SELF & FAMILY from June 10-17, 2020. A lively and exciting program, National Reconciliation Week will help women reconcile first with themselves, then with their families. More specifically, it focuses on restoring families, reconnecting fathers and daughters and encouraging co-parenting. Featured speakers include Larry Shaw of Shawinspires, author Mike Smothers, Tracie Robinson Ph. D, therapist and founder of Essences of Wellness, Michelle Garcia, executive director of the DC Office of Victims Services and Justice Grants and Linda Nielsen, Wake Forest University Professor and author of "Improving Father-Daughter Relationships: A Guide for Women and Their Dads;” they will participate in a series of conversations, daily inspirational and motivational tips and specific training sessions on parenting, parental relationships and the fine art of reconciliation without anger or blame but love.

The week of events have been curated by Jonetta Rose Barras author of Whatever Happened to Daddy’s Little Girl? The Impact of Fatherlessness on Black Women,  Bridges: Reuniting Daughters & Daddies; and founder of Esther Productions Inc. and Jennifer Okosun, founder of Young Parents Elevation Network; both will also serve as moderators for the various activities.

Additional assistance has been provided by Afrika M. Abney, arts, education and marketing consultant and Addison Switzer, Buckwild Media.
