ESTHER TALKS

“The discipline of creation, be it to paint, compose, write is and effort toward wholeness.: Madeleine L’Engle”

ESTHER PRODUCTION INC. was partially founded on the belief that the arts heal, inspire and empower. The organization, therefore, encourages its target audience of women and girls to be engaged each day with some form of art.

What did you do last week to involve your soul in the act of creating, in using its imagination to design the life and world you wish for yourself, for your family, for your community? What have your promised to do this week. What song will you write? What dance will you choreograph? what poem will you bring to life with metaphors?

What will you do share your voice, your spirit? You need to hear and feel them. So does the world.

SPOTLIGHT: MIDNIGHTROSE: A Reading Series of Poetry & Prose

Sometimes, the folks who call the District of Columbia home can take the city for granted, ignoring its rich cultural and arts history. They forget the musicians who didn’t just frequent the District as the rode the Chittlin’ Circuit of African American,

performing groundbreaking, original jazz that along with blues showcases the genius of Blacks in America. They forget, too, the creative literary minds who wrote poetry, short stories and novel, displaying incomparable imagination and richness of storytelling. But the fact is, before there was a so-called Harlem Renaissance there was an incomparably magnificent writing community in DC.

Fortunately, there still are talented writers in the District contributing to America’s deep and strong literary canon. MidnightRose: A Reading  Series of Poetry and Prose  showcases the splendor and sumptuousness of the city’s literary community. It features seasoned and emerging writers sharing new and collected works. The next reading is on Nov. 9 from 2-4 pm at the Tenley-Friendship Library. Presented in partnership with the Library, the event features three very different accomplished and award-winning writers who literary afficiandos would not want to miss. REGISTER NOW:
